Just the thought of going back to the building where someone hurt you, can be very stressful for your body. It can feel like you want to throw up, constantly. You can even have an intense, terrible feeling in your entire body, 24/7.
What if you have no choice but you have to go back to that building – every day, every week? What if that building is your work place? Then it is very likely that you will feel that awful feeling growing stronger each morning as you wake up, when you know you have to go back to that building.
Well, if you want to feel better, you have two choices:
1) Quit your job, get another job at another place, perhaps even in another town, and hide away from that building. The anxiety might deminish with time.
2) Stay at your current job, keep pushing through your anxiety every day and enter that building. The anxiety might deminish with time.
Only you can tell what feels like relief to you. No matter what you choose, you have to work on how you think and feel about what happened and most importantly, work on how you feel about yourself. You have to do the work if you want to feel better. You can’t hide away for ever, push away your feelings or try to ignore your flashbacks – face it, make peace with feeling awful, breathe through it and give yourself time to heal. You CAN feel better again. ❤️
