Trust your instincts – if it feels off, it is off πŸ™

This can be hard at times and it is indeed something you must continue to practice all your life. I am usually very kind and I have always been a people pleaser, but I am trying to break this cycle by listening to my heart and learning to say no when it feels even the slightest bit off. Today was a really good example of this.

The other week a person asked me to help him with something. I said yes to helping him when he asked me about this the first time, which was last week. I was supposed to help him today but I could feel this really uneasy feeling in my entire body today. The uneasy feeling just intensified as the day progressed and I even spoke up about it to my closest co-worker. She advised me to say no and to listen to my instinct. Even if this person is kind and well-meaning – if my instincts says that it feels off, it is off. So I did. I said no and I immediately felt so much better.

This truly is a process. If you are a people pleaser you truly enjoy helping other people and as soon as someone has a problem you want to help them feel better – but what about your own well-being? You have to think about your own safety and well-being first, then the other person. And a big part in this is to say NO when it feels off. That is the key to being of value both to others and to yourself.


Drop the victim mentality – a change is needed, a change in your perspective

It may seem impossible at times, but it is always possible. There is always hope, there are always endless possibilities coming your way and there are magnificent improvements to every single situation there is.

It may seem dark and gloomy where you stand right now, it may seem as if you are all alone and that all hope is lost. Under these situations your asking for improvements gets stronger and more intense – but as long as you keep looking at what is, keep complaining, keep worrying and keep feeling like a helpless victim, you will continue to stay stuck and suffer.

A change is indeed needed, but the first change that needs to happen is in your perspective! Nothing in these circumstances need to change in order for you to feel better. If you can find a way to think differently about the situation, the situation will change as well. And you are 100 % in charge of your perspective, what you think and therfore you are 100 % in charge of how you feel, regardless the circumstances.

Feeling sad, frustrated, powerless or insecure is not wrong, you are not a bad person just because you are negative – it is natural to feel awful when you experience awful and unwanted things. But you don’t have to stay in that limiting emotional place! If you shift the way you look at it, how you feel will shift as well- and as a beautiful bonus, the situation will improve too.

I love this message so much. Sometimes it is easy to think that if you only had more money… If you only could afford going on that vacation… If you only could buy that new car… Then what? Then you would be happy? It doesn’t work that way. You cannot buy your way to lasting happiness. Unless happiness comes from within, it will not last. Your happiness will fall into pieces and crumble if it depends on external things.

If you want to feel good, you have to do the mental work – improve your thinking and value how you feel. It is your internal dialouge that affects every aspect of your life, including how you feel. Change your thoughts, change how you feel – change your life. It begins and ends with you. Your thoughts. Your perspective. Not your money.

No assignment, no problem, no person and no situation is more important than your own wellbeing. If you donΒ΄t feel good, everything else will be negatively affected. If you feel good, everything else will be positively affected. It starts with you, with how you feel. How you feel affects everything. It even affects what kind of people you meet, how they behave but most importantly how you react. So, it is very valuable to care about how you feel – first. Make it your top priority to be kind, gentle and patient with yourself.
How can you make yourself feel a little bit better right now? Is there something you can do, say or think that can give you relief? If there is, then do it. If there isnΒ΄t, relax. You will feel better again eventually, just decide to be kinder to yourself and try to distract yourself as best you can.

Play it out in your imagination, take pleasure from the idea of it. Let the feeling of excitement be what you feel when you think about it and you will attract it like a magnet.

Life is supposed to be fun, you are supposed to thrive and all things you secretly desire will be attracted to you once you give up the negative attitude of disbelief that blocks it from coming.
