Nightmares that scare you awake in the middle of the night might feel frightening, but try to see them as harsh reminders that you need to slow down, breathe, sooth your mind and be kinder to yourself.
There is something you are thinking about often during your days, that make you feel like you felt during your nightmare. Your nightmare is a sign that you need to become aware of your own thinking, and gently work on improving how you feel during your days.
Thank your body for the reminder, take a deep breath, turn on the light if that makes you more comfortable and just try to relax. It is ok if you stay awake the entire night again – your body gets the rest it needs as you just relax in bed. Be kinder to yourself. This too shall pass.
