Your body remembers the fear and the powerlessness you felt in that situation, but it is just that: fear that your body remembers. The one who hurt you is not hurting your body NOW. So the fear you feel now is not dangerous, and it is not real. It is just a memory.
Just keep breathing through the fear. Close your eyes and empty your mind. Think of a warm and safe place where you feel at ease. Keep breathing deeply and show your body that it is safe.
With time you will become really good at soothing your body when fear comes back, and with a little more time your body will begin to trust that it is safe again. Be kind, gentle and patient with yourself. Healing takes time. It is different for everyone so don’t stress, don’t compare your healing journey to that of another. Trust that your body, mind and soul will heal with time, if you just allow it. ❤️
