Someone who listens to you and cares about you is a nice bonus, but it is not necessary in order for you to feel better. You have to do all the work yourself, no one can do it for you. Don’t put your happiness or your wellbeing in the hands of another person – you are the only one who holds the key to how you feel.
Sure, it can be reliefgiving to talk to someone about how you feel, and it can be reliefgiving to listen to their advice – but you have to change your thinking if you want to feel better. You can talk about the event as many times as you like, but it will only make you feel better temporarily, because if you don’t begin to view it differently you will continue to feel the same way.
Brush yourself off and take your power back by deciding to challenge yourself to view the event from another perspective. Everything can be viewed from beneficial perspectives or detrimental perspectives. How you feel, right now, is an accurate indicator of what perspective you are currently choosing to entertain. Stop tormenting yourself, change your perspective, change how you feel and become stronger and happier again.
