Getting everything you have ever dreamed of

I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.

– Jim Carrey

I love this message so much. Sometimes it is easy to think that if you only had more money… If you only could afford going on that vacation… If you only could buy that new car… Then what? Then you would be happy? It doesn’t work that way. You cannot buy your way to lasting happiness. Unless happiness comes from within, it will not last. Your happiness will fall into pieces and crumble if it depends on external things.

If you want to feel good, you have to do the mental work – improve your thinking and value how you feel. It is your internal dialouge that affects every aspect of your life, including how you feel. Change your thoughts, change how you feel – change your life. It begins and ends with you. Your thoughts. Your perspective. Not your money.

The most rewarding things in life are often free. Good company, walking the beach or the hills. Writing and Painting. Love with a family. Money is sometimes the devil that tries to displace these from your mind.

    Joypassiondesire,
You are spot on with that suggestion. I tried it only last night, before I read your blog. Something happened and then my thoughts about it made me depressed. Instead of assuming I would be depressed for who knows how long, it dawned on me that I needed to think differently, more realistically about it to snub out those depressed feelings. And it worked! Thank you for telling your readers about this and your other words of wisdom. Betsy

Very true. Some schools of thought go as far as to maintain that it’s not that you will be happy if you get rich, but you will get rich if you are happy… so it works the other way round… who knows πŸ™‚

This is so very true! Lets just say been there done that and NOOOOOOO it’s not what makes you happy at all. sure wants are easier but Happiness is a state of mind and can only be found when your good on your own and have found peace with who and what you are. and then relationships become more meaningful and youll find your world comes together without a struggle.

Even if I had 7 rings, money isn’t the answer to lasting happiness. Society brainwashed us into thinking that money is the answer. Bigger house, more houses, bigger cars, β€œbuying happiness” etc. Stuff is external and happiness is internal. Great message!

Beautiful as always! The truth in this is fantastic and I loved it.Everyone always seems to think if I just had more money, they would be happier. Money doesn’t and never will buy happiness, it will only cause more issues. Happiness is something that only we can find and nothing or anyone can provide it.
