There is a lot of talk these days about “what happened to you.” And while it’s important to be aware of the past, dwelling on it does nothing but keep you stuck there.
The only time it’s helpful to talk about what happened to you is when you’re ready to move on from it. Otherwise, you’re just giving it power over your present and future.
Secondly, complaining about your current circumstances does nothing to change them. If you want different results, you have to take different actions.
The bottom line is, if you don’t want more of what happened to you in the past, stop talking about it. And if you’re not happy with your current situation, start taking steps to change it. Otherwise, you’re just setting yourself up for more of the same.
So if you find yourself constantly talking about your past, ask yourself if you really want to keep reliving it. Or if maybe it’s time to let it go and focus on creating a better future for yourself.
